Most Workers’ Compensation claims are resolved with standard medical treatment and recovery time.
Medical recovery and economic recovery are not interchangeable.
And, some injuries leave deeper impacts. Side effects of treatment itself are rarely considered for their effects. ‘Temporary’ & ‘Partial’ mean different things in different corners of the broader economy. Medical restrictions can, and do, affect employability and are easily ignored in Workers’ Comp administration.There are those corporations and insurance providers which use Workers’ Compensation schemes to brush away the human remains of callous calculations too.
For example, it cannot be denied that over the past thirty years opioid pain relievers have proven reliable tools for reducing claim costs. Too often with ruinous and heartbreaking consequences. The true cost of this practice has been shifted to us all. Attorneys willing to defend injury claims with offers of prescription pain relievers are still today, in no short supply.
And, sometimes the replacement cost of a common tool is of greater concern in the front office than the replacement cost of a human employee.
